How to make z n p more hardy?

Guys, i have been addicted to the z and p lately. I was talking to this local reefer, who i am going to get the blondies. According to him, he has a way to make z and p become more hardy and also prevent them from melting, but he won't tell me the trick. I would like to know if it was a BS.

I love zoas too and rarely have them melt. The trick is no trick at all. When I actually take care of my tank it does well. When im really busy and let my tank swing they close and melt should I not maintain it back to normal. There are many zoos that are hardy some are just picky. Just like some fish. If they are from the ocean you have to aclimiate them slower than normal to have most success. But this is what I do maybe he knows a different tick maybe not lol

I'd personally grab those blondies elsewhere. There's not much of a secret: Most prefer lower light and higher nutrients. If you can find the sweet spot of heavy feeding/ heavy skimming while keeping your params in check your polyps will respond well. Some Lugols used sparingly also does wonders for me personally

I agree. I didn't get from him at all as he was a kind of ripped off to begin with. I later traded some of my wm chalices with another local reefer. I got the BLONDIES for this trade

There are no real secrets to zoas. Some are hardy some are not. What I've noticed though, in my tank, when I let it go sometimes and not do water change, everything seems to grow better. But I don't do that often cause I do have casualties. lol

There are too many different things that could cause sudden closed polyps.

I had this happen when I got zoathid eating nudibranches. I got a melanarus wrasse that fixed the issue. I now dip all zoas I put in.

It's highly concentrated, that's all. With that said I don't even test for Iodine/Iodide anymore, a couple drops every couple days seems to keep everything happy.Im sure my levels are off the charts but I'm not convinced its anything but beneficial. How big is your system?

Yep, it could be one particular species more sensitive than others.
Could be a predator only eating that frag/colony.
Some times that frag/colony you've introduced the last is suffering from shock (light or chemicals), but the others were fine and well adapted.
If one colony has a bacteria infection, only that one will close or look bad...

I only have a 50 gallon tank with a 40g sump....it's not huge. Nothing but a bunch of zoos and ricordea. You guys think it would be a good idea to dose lugols? Maybe a drop or two a week?
