How to measure salifert phosphate test

So I have the salifert phosphate test and the instructions arent totally clear. It says to fill the pipette to the base with water for testing. Which part is the base? The red line or the black line? I ask because that little space between the lines can make a huge difference in test results

Also why does this have 6 slots is it just because? Or you should run it a few times and measure based on the most common color?

I always used your black line. Results where inline with Hanna

Just did it at the black line. Produced results I moreso expected. Around .06 or .07 so I am pretty happy with that.

I always have my fiance check compare color for me and I dont tell her if it's good or bad I just say "okay" because I know what I am looking for so that may skew what I see it as but for someone who has no idea what it should be they see it as it is haha. Are there any other tests i should get as seachem? I'm currently doing no2, no3, ammonia, calcium, ph on api tests. I've heard that no3 is pretty decent in api but I dislike the ammonia (I dont bother to test ammonia anymore tho because I dont plan on changing my stocking or feeding and my tank is pretty stable)
