I have dr fosters magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate I want to know how to mix them because I heard it’s not the same as the brs two part mix

5 cups magnesium chloride with 3 cups magnesium sulfate in 1 gallon of rodi water. Not sure how it can be different? Hopefully someone else can confirm

I would try to ask drsfostersmith what mixture they recommend. It would be nice if BRS gave the weights as well in their instructions, but understand why they list in volume.

5:3 by volume or by weight will be close enough. I designed the 5:3 volume recipe based on two particular materials (Epsom salt and Dead Sea Works magnesium chloride hexahydrate), but the exact ratio is not that important. :)

I'd be surprised if they had an opinion.

Folks should bear in mind this recipe is for use as part of a two/three part system.

It isn't the optimal ratio for dosing of magnesium in a system that is not using a two part:

"Note also that this recipe (#3) is different from that given in my DIY two-part recipe, because in that case more magnesium sulfate is necessary to offset the rise in chloride that is provided by both the calcium chloride and the magnesium chloride."
