Hi guys, fairly new to the hobby and still learning all the do’s and dont’s. Just a quick question we have recently purchased a flat montipora coral what is the best way to mount this? We read somewhere you can’t use Coral glue as it will die is this true? We have placed on a flat part of our rock work but it just falls all the time.

Coral glue will be fine. By a flat monti do you mean a monti cap? It will be fine glued down anywhere it gets a good bit of light and flow. Just glue the bottom to the rock. If you get glue on the top, that part will die but should get covered up with new growth if it is healthy and in a stable tank.

Thanks so much! Yeah Monti cap I believe.

Thats a weird thing to read somewhere lol. Yea it would die off in the area you dapped the glue but montipora will encrust a bit before it starts to grow. If you wedged it into a rock, it will die and encrust both at the point of contact. You could use a bit of glue to mount it, but if its a big chunk- glue might not be enuff. So you may need to do a combination of both.

Welcome to the forum =)
