Hey all,

I have a 220g marineland drilled tank that's about 400ibs. Took 4 guys just to get it. It's on 2x4's in my garage an soon will be ready to bring in. Is there an alternative to having 4 people carrying 100 feet to it's stand?

Thanks

Manpower is probably the best just for safe reasons getting it on the stand. Its not worth getting hurt using less than 4 people. Mine is only a 180 and that boy was heavy, I used four people.

Can you use furniture dollies? That doesn't help get it up to the stand but unless you happen to have a scissor lift handy...

Furniture dolly, then you may be able to tilt it on one end to get the other end onto the stand, walk around and lift other end to slide completely onto stand.

Just be careful

I'm thinking 8 people, or an engine hoist, a floor jack, and anybody else besides me. I used to help moving these but I'm no longer able to lift reliably. Hope you figure this out, because we all know that it's totally worth it. :)
This is a job for strong youngsters and beer.

And I just noticed that you are new on here. Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I just moved my 210 into my house. I jacked it up still on the pallet using 4 scissor jacks. High enough to get two furniture dollies underneath. One on each end. Then rolled it inside through the kitchen and Into the living room. Then rolled it directly in front of the stand. I purchased a hydraulic lift table from northern tool. It was rated for 1000lbs and had a lift height of 54 inches. The lift tables minimum height was 16 inches. After rolling the tank in front of the stand I used my jacks again to get the tank up off the dollies. And jacked up high enough to get the lift table underneath. Then jacked up the whole tank while still on the pallet to the height of my stand. 37 inches tall. Then used 4 suction cups, 2 on each end to then lift and transfer over to the stand. The tank was a little over 400lbs. It was just me and another person doing the transfer. If the stand wasn’t so tall it might have been doable without the lift table. I’m thinking even with 4 people it would have been a pain. Once you get the suction cups suctioned to each end, there’s really not a lot of room to get two people on each end. All in all the move went really well. This is the one I purchased. Actually I made my company pay for it. Lol. We can use it for other things after I’m done with it. Lol!!! I could see where one of these things could come in handy for a lot of things though!!!

I hired professional movers to move my 180g which is about 430lbs from my garage to the living room. They used 3 people and a furniture dolly, then lifted it up onto the stand.

I like that they were insured and it only cost me $120.

My 1000ltr ( 220g ish ) took 8 of us, I had to take the window out, of coarse had to give the wife some cash to go shopping while this was happening. ( Did nt tell her how big it was, and that it would need to come through the front window) Had it in place , setup, window frame back in before she returned lol
