Hi there,

Recently been researching hooking up ozone for its many benefits- crazy clear water, coral toxin neutralization being what I’m most interested in.

I watched a BRS video on ozone which said you can turn on the ozone generator for only one hour per night and get great results. This seems ideal! My question is, if the ozone is hooked to the air intake of the skimmer but is only on for one hour per day, does that affect the skimmer for the rest of the day? Can air flow still?

I’m wondering if you need a second skimmer to just do part time ozonation? Ozoning? Ozonification?

If anyone has tried it and has advice it would be much appreciated

air will flow through the ozone generator just fine while its off. make sure your tubing and skimmer can handle ozone is the biggest concern. Just cut power to it when you dont want to run it, thats it.

I run second small skimmer, the ozone affect the skimmer. I can clearly see less bubble when ozone generator is ON, this is on small skimmer with only 1 air line. ORP raise immediately.

My skimmer has both and air line and an ozone line so they can run in parallel
How does that work? Seems like unless an airline valve shuts, then it would still suck air through the ozone generator (and dryer). Just now setting my system up and interested in your parallel approach and the potential benefits.

I suppose if the ozone line is not hooked up it simply pulls water through it. I will try to get you a photo.

The red line is for Ozone
