How To Pick???

Hello everyone! There are so many saltwater fish species out there! I'm having a hard time choosing. Does anyone know of a website or something to help me narrow down the possibilities?

What's the size of your tank and do you also plan to have corals? Those will both limit your options.

My tank is 55 gallons. And I eventually want to have corals but it will probably not be for awhile.

No tangs, no foxface, no regular angelfish. Plan for a (maximum) of 8-12 small to medium-sized fish. You want fish in different "swim lanes", ie: sand dwellers, rock dewllers, algae eaters, free swimmers, hunters, etc.
