How to place my gyres.

Hi all,

I have got 4

flow pumps on my 100cmx65x50cm tank.
2 of witch are gyres 330 and 2 are jecod sow8's.
The sow8's are on either side of my overflow at the back blowing over the bottom.

The gyres are currently on the sides of the tank a front of each other as is best I believe.
I think my flow is pretty good like this except.. that the gyres at the sides are an eye sore...
Especially becouse when I sit on the couch I look through the side of the tank.

So I rather put them at the back of the tank vertical.
But the flow on my sps seems to be a lot lower like this and less turbulent.
The water has to bounce from the glass first befor it collides with the flow of the aposing pump and seems to be alot weaker where I want it and strong where I doont want it.
And when only 1 pump is on it creates alot of flow around the place where the sps corals are .

Placing them horizontal at the back gives a simmalar effect and as they face the same way the flow does not collide between the gyres but with the jecods and gives mainly alot of flow on the bottom where my lps stand...

My tank is bare bottom and I've got lps low around the rock work and sps above it.
My tank is running for about 7 months now and most corals are frags.

Has any one a good suggestion about placing them?

I had mine like that but it left too much flow on top and mid and not enough on bottom for me. But you've got bb so it may be different. I have mine now vertically on the back wall in the corners and it works better for me plus they completely disappear against the black background.

Hi,

I have no lack of flow at the bottom becous it is bare bottom and I have 2 jecod sow 8 pumps blowing from back to front over the bottom.
And I have indeed placed them on the back vertically a while ago but it resulted in alot less flow where I have sps and a lot more at my lps corals.
My current problem is not really a flow problem but it is more aesthetics.
But by placing my gyres different as they are now I do get a flow problem.

Im thinking of just put the gyres on the back horizontal and let them blow down across the glass and mount the jecods's at the back corners and aim them to the opposite corner of the tank.

But that will mean that I see 4 pumps instead off only the 2 gyres as the jecod's are now low behind the rockwork.
So this solution may not be a improvement on aesthetics.
And also the gyres move alot more flow than the jecods so flow will still be worse than it is now.

I’m setting up a rsr 350 and plan doing it this way

mine (2) are vertical, back corners, because
A: the scape was designed to hide them
B: my overflow (Ghost Reef Savvy) is top RH side
C: my return is top rear LH side pointing towards the front RH corner

Well ok I'm gonna try putting them vertically at the back again than and play with aiming it more or less to the glass.
