Yesterday I got this decent size leather mounted on what looks like two thin disc style plates bonded together. The coral is pretty hefty and seem to be getting pulled over by their weight. How should I go about trying to place/secure these guys so they don't keep falling over. They were standing more up right I feel like at the LFS. There are a bunch of new growths starting on the base of the plate and I don't want to burry the plate as it would burry those new growths. You can't see them from this pic angle.

My sinularia looks like that in the morning when the lights come on and at the end of the day before the lights go out. During the day it is upright and reaching for the light. Your leather will probably do the same. Might take longer as it is still acclimating to it’s new tank.

You will want to get him in a higher spot in the tank to get more Light for them.

What par level do you recommend for leathers/ toadstools? I keep mine on the sand as well and it seems happy there.

Oh and to the OP... I agree, that they close up and sleep at night. During the day they expand and open up and will pull themselves upright. At least that has been MY experience.

Just leave it where it is, they so hate to be touched.
Let it fill out over the next month or so, then, will see it’s true size and maybe you’ll need to move.
