How to plumb a 220 with a dual over flow

Looking for suggestions on best way to plumb a dual corner overflow tanks this will be my first time setting up a tank with dual overflow so just just looking for ideas or to see what other people have done t ok achieve the best results this will be the sump I'll be running

Well, my first questions are:
1) How many holes behind each overflow and how big are they?
2) Do you want an emergency drain?
3) Do you want returns from the sump at both ends or just one?

Maybe a couple photos of the tank and overflows would be helpful.

It has 2 holes on each side with 1 inch bulkheads it also has returns on both sides and tbh I never thought if an emergency drain also I know the over flows are shot I have to go get pvc to make longer because they where to short of kits that where with the tank when purchased

Pretty standard Marineland dual corner mega-flows (which don't work particularly well … certainly not 'mega'). Assuming you've no desire to pull the overflows and go with a rear-mounted ghost-style unit, I'd suggest converting both corners to dual drains and either grinding an additional hole in the rear for the return or go over the rim. I had the ML265 with dual corners for a while and wrestled with the best approach and that is what I ultimately did.

I have the same 220. I opted to tear out the overflows and install a ghost overflow like @ca1ore just mentioned. It gives more space in the tank, allows for a bean style overflow, and elevated blood pressure for the foreseeable future as I worry if I sealed the old holes correctly

FWIW, I just used new threaded bulkheads with plugs and plumbers paste top and bottom. Knocking on wood, never a leak. Since I have a canopy, I just run the returns over the top in the back.

The tank is a great size, but I absolutely struggle to reach things at only 5'10". A three step ladder will be your best fried lol!
