I have a 75g reef-ready tank (drilled with an overflow box). It came with a inlet cover to attach to the drain bulkhead, but it seems that using that will keep the water level very low in the overflow area and cause a lot of splashing from the water falling from the top of the overflow to the drain line at the bottom.
After doing some research, I came across the "durso standpipe." Is this the best way to drain a sump? Others have said it is quiet and safer. I definitely want a safe way to plumb the tank in case of power/pump failure.
What do you suggest?
