I'm in the process of setting up my first acrylic tank and need to know what people use for algae magnets? I have heard of using a diaper under the outside magnet, or is there somthing better? What other tips or tricks can I use to prevent damage. It's 1/2 inch acrylic.

Thanks Ron

A good LFS will sell algae scrapers designed for acrylic. They're similar to the ones for glass but are less abrasive.

yes, use a high quality microfiber cloth. LOL, SHAMWOW!

I bet that wold work great to be honest.

I have found the best is a dobbie, with the sponge cut out, and used with a magnavore 6, and a microfiber cloth on the outside.

Saltwatercrazy turned me on to this and it works great.

DIYREEF has the best prices on magnavores by FAR.

Some one else posted to use a dobie pad but didn't tell me to remove the sponge. Good tip to know. I have also read a used Credit Card works wonders for scraping coraline. I planned to contact DIYREEF for the magnavore once the tank is wet.

Thanks Ron

:xd: You never know what I might come up with. I will have to let you take pics when it's ready.
