How to prevent snails to enter the skimmer?

Regularly I have to remove one or more snails from my skimmer, they are in my venturi or even blocking the impeller. In both cases they tend to die and cause a) a lot of skimmate and, and b) a lot of bubble noise .

I can't be the only one with this issue, and I'm looking for tips to prevent this from happening.

I have a Red Sea 600 skimmer

You could try a piece of filter bag secured with a rubber band over the skimmer intake.

Maybe post photo of your skimmer pump / where it sits in the sump.... then more folks may chime in.
