How to quarantine against dinoflagellates?

After having to take down my tank due to Ostreopsis ovata infestation I started looking at preventative methods. Is it possible to quarantine each coral and use microscope to make sure dinos do not enter the DT? Is anyone doing this? It just seems that dinos are becoming a grater concern than in the past. Please let me know what you guys are doing to prevent dinos. Thanks

I defiantly agree that dinos more of an issue today than they have been in the past. I'd be interested in hearing qt ideas also.

Has anyone derived a method for quarantining coral, macro algae, and inverts to prevent dinoflagellates yet? I tend to think chloroquine phosphate or metroplex will take care of dinos that are on a fish or in the gut.

The only other thing I can think of is bleach dosing a QT but you will not want to do this with fish.

I don't believe there is any way to successfully QT for dinos since there is no sure fire way to eliminate them. I suspect they exist in most if not all tanks and just need the right conditions to bloom.

I fully agree. They can be found in lr,corals,on fish slime. They are part of the environment. They also have the ability to form a cyst like structure and survive till conditions are favorable. Remember that Zooxanthellae is a species of dino. Impossible to keep out of the tank.

I agree with this. I think any process to quarantaine for Dino's would also kill any "beneficial" bacterial that are so essential to a normal tank, you'd end up with sterile sea water...
