So I have one of those Aqueon 75g tanks with the built in weir overflow and durso standpipes. I have successfully silenced the actual drain where it enters my sump, however there is a nonstop trickling sound coming from the tank which I have isolated to the actual overflow. How do I reduce this trickling sound?

I have one of these:

Raise the standpipe so the water is close to the top of the overflow this lessen the sound of falling water

You can also modify it like I did to do a herbie type overflow it it will be nearly silent

Raise the standpipe so the water is close to the top of the overflow this lessen the sound of falling water

Does that increase or decrease the amount of water that drains into the tank when the return pump shuts off? Or the same.

Similar. Since the line is a press fit and not glued some more will trickle down into the sump but the whole thing won’t drain. Mine drains down about halfway
