Hey reefer new to the hobby. Trying to raise my calcium and magnesium levels. What is the best solution and how much should I add? I have a Red Sea reefer 425

Awesome topic.
I’ll give you the answers if you give some test results.
Ph
Alk
Cal
Mag

I use the BRS additives and their calculator. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-calculator/
Select the element you want to raise
Select the product you’re using (I use calcium chloride, and magnesium chloride)
Enter your water volume
Enter current level and desired level
It tells you how much to add

I use BRS additives also, the two part. Calcium and alkalinity are easy. Magnesium is a mess to mix up and it takes a pot load to increase it. For magnesium, i think it is just easier to use a salt mix that has the level I want. Magnesium uptake is low so water changes should maintain the levels.

120DT heavily stocked with SPS and a few LPS. I've been using the BRS additives for several years. I find them easy to use and reasonably priced. I mix them in 7g water storage jugs so that I only have to mix them up every few months. I don't even bother checking Mg levels unless I start having an issue with the Ca/Alk ratios. Water changes pretty much keep the Mg in check for me.
