How to raise my skimmer

Ok, dumb question: I need to raise my skimmer about 4 inches from the bottom of my sump. I can put together some egg crate and stack it, but that doesn't seem stable. Whats another reef friendly way to do this?

You can get a skimmer stand (several companies offer one), or anything that's made of food-safe plastic should work to raise it up.

Here it is. Just transferred all livestock to my 315 and this is day 1. Will be cleaned up some here soon, but skimmer height is todays’s challenge.

I used in the past egg crate to make a base. Actually my frag rack are made from the same material

Yeah I did that before too, but I connected the egg crate to pvc so I could get the height I wanted.

Egg crate and zip ties,2x zip tie on each side in the corners to make a square/rectangle base for skimmer to sit on,could even leave bottom open and place some rock in there wedged inside the eggcrate box you made to give it more structural integrity

Pick up a B-37 skimmer basket for a pool and cut it down to whatever height you like.

Or Sean Clark gave me an idea,even cheap plastic woven baskets like these should do the job.this particular one is 15.5cm so 5.9 inches so just find one that high enough for you.
Ovniously put it upside down and get something where water can pass through it would be best imo

Eggcrate can do anything

Make a cube with a diagonal cross member and it'll be rock solid.
I filled it with bio media as well.

used a piece of eggcrate...made 4 legs out of 1 inch pvc...cut 4 slots in an X across the top of each pipe so the eggcrate would fit snugly into the slots...
