how to reduce my ALK

Never heard of a salt mix with that high alk; sure your test kit/device is producing valid readings? Worth checking with other instruments, and what is alk reading of mixing bucket?

I have been doing doing 50 gal water changed every 2 wks
What salt are you using?
and are you dosing anything on the tank to make the ALK rise? 16 is super high, I’d check your test kits too.

but in answer to your question I don’t believe vinegar is a good acid to use to lower ALK as I think the ALK will just raise again after the vinegar is broken down.
@Randy Holmes-Farley could confirm that

I believe muriatic/hydrochloric is a better alternative to lowering ALK. Just don’t use it in a tank with live creatures as the ph drop can be dangerous.
If you have live animals in there, you can dose the HCL to your top off water so that it’s added very slowly over time at low levels.

The salt with the lowest alk that I’d bother with and can think of is tropic Marin reef pro. Do some water changes with that stuff

i have done water changes I did a small Batch of salt tested with the trident 8.06 then tested in tank again over 16 the then again with another kit same . I use tropic Marin
