How to remove sand

What is the best way to remove sand in a tank? I can siphon through a tube but that’s tough because I’ll be siphoning out all the water as well. Any tips?

Do you do regular water changes? When I removed my sand I siphoned a little out during each water change.

Why are you removing the sand? Not that this is bad or anything, but removing the sand in an old tank can be different than one that is somewhat new. Sometimes you can get it all in one shot, other times you need to take it slow. GL.

Just gonna go bare bottom for a little bit. My tank isn’t that old so I think I should be ok

This is probably to best/easiest way to do it. Easy to siphon up the sand/detritus and your replacing some new water.

Agreed, and then you can rinse out that 'removed' sand and save it, in case you decide to go back to a sand bottom.
