How to replace Red Sea 525 XL plumbing

So I got this tank for free but it came without any plumbing which wasn't too big of a deal since I wanted to replace the plumbing for the standard pvc pipes.

Thing is I have no idea how to remove the piece that is in the overflow box. I tried to remove it but that thing will not budge.

Is there a way to remove this? Or can I can find the piece needed at home depot without having to buy the parts from red sea? Or will I have to get the specific parts instead?

You will be far better off buying the Red Sea pipes for the overflow and converting to standard plumbing in the stand. Lots of options to convert plumbing after the first joint.

I assumed that would be the best option. I guess I'll have to get the overflow parts then

Those are metric also… are those the same as the 250? If so, I just converted all my lower plumbing to standard from metric, the pipes in the overflow I would stay with RS. However, I am about to replace the return as I am all one inch now, and will be making some tweaks to the return to have a full 1 inch return for better and more efficient tuning. Also, in the lower don’t use the RS valve, make sure you go with a gate valve.
