Hi All,

We recently had a large sand sifting goby manage to pop up the flap of our aquarium lid. The lids are glass with acrylic flap. The flap popped up but apparently immediately fell back down trapping him on top of the lid. This happened sometime during the day when no one was around to help him.

Any ideas how to secure the lid down?

Hoping someone else has figured out how to solve this kind of problem.

Thanks for any suggestions....

You could consider using one of those double sided velcro self stick straps. Cut to fit your application. A bit of it on the flap & a bit on the side. Connect with the other side of the strap that is uncut. Saw this being used at a shop a long, long time ago to keep octopus in the tank.

A couple pieces of duct tape on each side perhaps? It might not look the most glamorous, but it should hold.

Tried the velcro and we're hoping it works. We replaced our goby and the new one has tons of personality. Hoping this method keeps him safe.
Thank you for the suggestion!
