I don't want to frag them by cutting them etc.

But when they move and spawn new mushrooms they end up dying because the bigger ones cover it from the light.

Does anyone know how I can get the bigger ones away from the rock without damaging any of the smaller mushrooms and is this a frag disc they are growing on?

If you can remove the rock, you can lightly press an ice cube against the mushroom near the base to make it let go of the rock. I've done this before and it worked quite well.

Use a scalpel to cut them away from the rock, or a utility knife blade, and try to super gel glue them to another rock.

I'm thinking about using something like pliers maybe to try break the bit of rock their on away from the actual disc.

Would this work?
If the rock split, would the mushroom survive?

Never done this before and really don't wanna kill anything off.

Yea, you could do it that way. But in fraggin corals of your type, a knife is generally used to cut it away at the base.
