How to set up a zoa garden?

The 3inch grow tiles are a good way to start.

Personally, Gooch made some plug holders a while back. And time. Makes the difference.

Maybe avoid the mowhawk without containment protocols.

I agree with seeing green on this one. You'll need a way to manage them, and separate tiles work well. To avoid the ugly sparse look in the beginning, you might want to start with smaller tiles and stack them onto larger diameter tiles as the zoas grow, like a pyramid.

Prior to learning how problematic they can end up I placed some on rock work. Not much I can do about those now. But since I have been getting more and more addicted to ZOA's, I began using small dry rock for each type, as well as for fragging. For 10 bucks you can get a gallon jug of them. I hate plugs so this is what I use.

I also have some green elkhorn Monti that grows like a weed and no one wants it. I began fragging it on the ZOA rocks to let the ZOA's take it over as it grows. Only began that recently so only a couple have began to grow up the Monti but I think it should look cool.

Nice bmcdk7 !^^^

Having them on larger discs so you can move them is a good idea. Some grow faster than others. Also having them on pillars and such will keep them apart for longer.

Here is a shot I took with my phone... a cool function I didn't know it had hehe

Hmmm. Noobie mistake maybe, as I never thought of "managing" them. I started a garden and have been just mounting polyps to a large rock I have. What can go wrong in doing that I wonder? When two types come together does one overtake the other?
