How to shield lights so that stray light from the side doesn't blind you?

I have a pair of AI Hydra 26s hanging over my RSR 250. When I look at the tank from my desk or my couch I can see the underside of the Hydras. How can I block them? They are 9 inches from the water surface. Can I lower them if the plan is for LPS?

I am thinking I could cut some plastic rectangles, maybe 1-2 inches in height, and velcro them to the sides of each light. Would that work?

The real answer is a canopy but everyone wants rimless tanks now.

You could still use a floating canopy if you want.

This might work. Most of the floating canopies I have seen are far larger than the diffuser but a floating canopy would be much more difficult to implement.

Its a canopy that doesnt touch the tank.... either hangs from ceiling or anchored into wall behind the tank.
