You are dealing with a live animal. Is it the only thing you are shipping? Ideally it is going to be an over-night quick trip, so as long as the carbon levels and pre-existing water parameters are within the acceptable range, then no I don't see a need for an extra carbon source.

Biggest thing when shipping a nem is to make sure to ship it in as much water as possible. If for some reason the nem poops mid transit, you want as much water as a buffer as possible.
