In my sump, the holes for filter socks are a bit to big, and water leaks thru causing a splashing noise. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Get a large sponge that will cover your filter socks.. it will distribute the water more evenly.

I actually use only the sponge now for my mechanical filter.. It catches all the larger detritus but does not have to be clean for weeks at a time. Filtersocks in my system get clogs in days even the mesh kind.

This is exactly what I did when my system was new. I still clean mine out every time I change the filter socks though.

I’ll keep that in mind guys. How will a sponge stop water from leaking thru the gaps though?

I was kind of thinking like a 5inch plate that goes over the 4 inch hole, then the sock into the hole...anything like that exist?

How much gap do you have between the filter sock ring and sump waterline? The larger drop the more noise

I had this problem then increased the sump waterline from 8" to 11". Now its maybe 1" so noise is not much of a factor.

You can probably get a acrylic plate and drill some holes in there.. That should help with the noise.. Kind of like the old school trickle filters.

No, but it will reduce the particulate that goes through.

If you could get some good measurements I'm sure you could get a better sized plate custom made to fit over this one. We have a few vendors on here who could make that.

Perfect, that’s what I was hoping to hear. Any vendors off the top of your head?
