I have a 6 gallon tank I want to use for quarantine. I have two sponge filters brand new. Can I just add water salt and then add fish or do I have to cycle it first. Should I put sponge filters in display first then put in quarantine tank. I just need help in how to start it up.

Definitely cycle, you have time and there’s nothing to lose. It doesn’t take much to set up a qt. Get the filter running with your sw in the tank, grab a heater, buy some cheap small pvc pipes for the fish to hide and cycle the tank.

Thank you for the advice. I will follow these directions.

Also have you ever used Brightwell MicroBacter Quick Cycle. How do you feel about this product for cycling tank.

I prefer adding established live rock. Most cycling products do as mentioned though.

If meaning for quarantine tank though I would advise against rock

I always have a few sponge filters in my main tanks sumps so that if I need to setup a QT I have established bio filter ready to go. Once used in QT obviously don't put back in main tank. As others said no live rock as you may need to treat with copper at some point.
