How to start a reef

How do I add corals to my rock to give it that reef look?I have been in the hobby for a little over a year and I want to add more color to my rock. Shoot me some ideas and or constructive criticism.

You need some big colonies of softies in there swaying around like neon green toadstool, sinularia and maybe some gorgs.

So do I just buy large colonies ? Because I don’t want my tank to be covered in small discs. Or do people break them off the disc and glue them to a rock?

You can remove them from the frag plug/disc. and glue the coral directly to the rock
