How to Sterilize Heater

I had a fish dying in quarantine so in a desperate attempt to save him I put him in a bucket and used my mixing station heater. The fish never showed signs of ich or disease that was visible but did end up dying. What is the best way to sterilize the heater before putting it back in my mixing station to ensure no disease is spread to my display tank?

Personally if not expensive I would replace, or use Milton fluid or similar followed by a good rinse.

Put it in a bleach solution for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly with tap water.
