How To Stop Skimmer Overflow In Sump ?

I'm setting up another reef, a 125g. I have a nice big sump, so I want to know how & where to set it up with the skimmer, so the water level stays the same height and won't overflow from feedings, turn off pumps ext.

When you turn off the pump for feeding, hit the fed button on the skimmer or turn it off as well. No way to get around this if you have an in-sump skimmer. As the water level in the sump rises so will it in the skimmer.

+1 for skimmer off, but need to see your sump for best suggestions.

What type of sump do you have? It may have a skimmer section that keeps the water level constant for you.

Edit- I think I misread.do you mean when you turn off pumps the water siphons back into the sump

Nope, no siphon, just a skimmer overflow. I know I've seen sumps where there's a section that does not change, so the skimmer never overflows even when the pumps are off.

Not sure I’ve come across what you are describing.

I have a Bashea that has a skimmer section that stays level and is adjustable. But if I shut off my 2 return pumps the DT water flows back into the sump a little until the return line siphon is broken. Then the level does change. Only way I can avoid overflow is shutting the skimmer off as mentioned

I just found a video of melevesreef on youtube, explaining what happens. And why it can happen when changing filter socks, don't know ?

I like watching his stuff. I remember seeing that video a while back.
Filter socks usually set off skimmers if they have been cleaned or are new. When I used to change socks i would let the skimmer overflow back into the tank and wait for it to settle down. Some let the overflow go into a bucket and discard.

If so, why does carbon others react to even residual amounts ?
