Every time I put the return pump in feed mode. The skimmer over flows. So I have to stop that as well. Then I forget to turn it back on..
I had the redsea 300 which was very water level sensitive.. So I changed to the octopus 150s. But still when I turn the return off to feed. The sump raises 30mm and the skimmer over flows! Arh!
Redsea 425xl. With manifold
And a check valve on the return pipe. So it doesn't spyhon the tank.
Skimmer is raised 3inch in sump.

Not an expert, but in my opinion it is normal that the skimmer will overflow if the level increases with 3 cm... I have always turned of my skimmer during feeding. Don’t you have a button on your skimmer pump controller with a “feed mode” (turning it off/on automatically after 10 min?).

I don’t think there is much you can do apprt from designing a system that raises your skimmer 3 cm when it senses “return pump off”. However this will probabely not be worth the cost.

See it as a trigger to clean the skimmate.

Dame..
