How to stop sps bleaching from the base

Jackie, I hope your virus gets better soon. Maybe I was wrong but please just take care a bit that it isn´t caused by the Palythoa. I know of some tanks where Palythoas caused problems with SPS. Especially Seriatopora seemed to be sensitive to palytoxin and could not be kept together with Palythoa in one tank. Another guy had problems with Acropora dying from the basis.

Thanks GoVols.;)

Thank you I truly appreciate your concern and advice :D I agree the green ones are very bad. I did remove them once before but I must have missed some and they grew and spread. I am going to make more DIY rock when I return from my trip Thursday but it'll be a few weeks before it's ready to replace the palythoa covered rocks.

I am pretty sure my tank becoming very unbalanced from the power outage caused the bleaching from the bases on my acropora. Not all had this condition and not all were near the palys. However I also had a lot of green slimer (not the neon green kind) in huge pieces in my tank that may have contributed to the bad water conditions at the time of the outage. I have since did about 100g water changes and removed that slimer into a frag tank. My tank now seems to be stabilizing and most stn stopped or slowed.

My walking pneumonia is getting better because I am on antibiotics. I still have a little congestion and periodically cough. But I'm feeling a lot better :D Thank you for asking!

I have 2 birdsnest only the hystrix was affected from bleaching at the base, others were; green pocillopora, garf bonsai, garf red planet, 3 tabling acros, and a tort. Also encrusting sunset monitpora, a green capricornis and digitatas. All lps has recovered.
