Hey fellows,
above video for entertainment ;-)

I need urgently help !!!!! How to kill SPS corals where you can't reach them anymore.
So my issue is that some SPS, mostly Monti caps and poccis have been populated in some area where they compete out some high end SPS and I need to get rid of them.

I used glue, tried to chemically burn these areas, scaped and soaked the material off and things get now out of control :-(
Trying to supergrow SPS high ends, causes all others to grow quicker as well.

My hope is to find someone who can confirm that killing SPS with a Laser worked.
Also, since I'm not an expert on that area, I would like to get some recommendations from people what Laser is suitable for this type of job.

I plan to Laser from top down, and front glass.

Nice looking corals

Thank you....... really like to keep it like that (actually enhance it more), hence the question into the R2R members audience if anyone has some recommendations how to kill some SPS lol ;-)

Would be interesting if the Manjano Wand does the SPS killing job as well.
The Laser seem to be a real dangerous task :-(

I agree, lasers in a fish tank are not a safe move, especially on the eyes .

Yes correct. I really don't like this idea honestly.
Screened through some older threads and some Laser are like true weapons.

I can live with it, if I have to burn some longer but not that extreme!

Not a laser related, but I like putting down kalk paste. You can apply it with a syringe or use something like Julian's thing if it's a tough location to get to.

Tried that as well after scraping and works. But not in some areas underneath some colonies.

THX anyways, may help others with similar issues ;-)

Hey Andre?! We met on fb the other day. I know nothing about lasers to kill corals, but DANGGG your tank is looking sweet. I hope to get to drive down and see it in person one day. Take care, bro.

THX John, it's coming along well.
Hopefully with controlled trimming of Corals it's going to be even more beautiful ;-)

Hit me up on Facebook or email in advance if you need anything ;-)

most lasers used in surgery cut/destroy soft tissue by boiling water, obviously those wont work in a fish tank. you would need something in wavelength that is not doing anything to water but capable of heating up corals fast. I doubt that you will find something that isn't very pricey that will do that.

Well, budget is a secondary influencing factor here, considering potential damage of costly colonies ;-)
THX for the hints, I already read about Laser for Manjanos to kill in Reef tanks, but not sure if these Lasers are good for the tissue of SPS as well deep enough to avoid regrowth ;-)

@melev please help with your Laser experience !!!

Is there enough space to be able to spread some epoxy over the surface of the coral? I've managed to keep some of my encrusting sps from spreading too fast this way.
