Thanks Peter. I have read his articles and vinegar sounds like a good thing to try with the results I am getting. Tomorrow I move my corals from a 75 with sump to a 30 long without a sump. This experiment will be seeing how my tank does with a hob skimmer, am all back filter for carbon and dosing vinegar. This winter I will be setting up a Miracles 90 with sump. I will be interested then to see if I can grow chaeto and dose vinegar. Vibrant took out my chaeto.
I am able to grow chaeto just fine dosing vinegar, I don’t dose a whole lot of vinegar, however, about 30 ml for a 200g system. I have both a Refugium and chaeto reactor that grow just fine with it. I did have to turn my dose back a few months ago to keep some more nutrients in the tank in order to have the chaeto thrive and aid with phosphate removal. I don’t think you’ll have any issue keeping chaeto alive just ease into the dose.
