How to Take pics with iPhone?

One small tip: Open the phone app with the camera already pointed at the subject in the tank and it’ll color correct out most of the blue.

I would like to know how others get the focus to work… my iPhone clearly doesn’t recognize a lot of stuff in the tank as a thing to focus to.

The best I get is to pull the phone back and then zoom in, which seems to preserve more focus than trying to take up close pictures.

Hi All,

So I see people taking crazy pics of their tank on here. Im wondering how are y'all taking pics so good with an iPhone. Whats the secret.

Thanks!
Get a color correction lens filter kit to correct the color. And then remember to tap whatever you want the camera to focus on. Wide angle is best for sharpness and then crop in the phone image editor.

Holy crap that is a game changing tip. How many years have I been using my phone camera incorrectly?? :face-with-open-mouth: Try it!

All my pics are iPhone with no editing. Just clip on orange lens and blue /purple lighting

This trick doesn’t work for me

I use my lens. I don’t zoom at first. I get as close as I can to the glass. Perpendicular, try to avoid angles. If item is blurry I back up slowly and tap it to force focus. When I back up enough that the object is in focus, then I zoom

I just took these now using this method

Few more it takes practice. I’m about 1-2” away from the glass for these

Encore encore!

I read a tip that said turn the blues up to 100% for photos with the orange lense. How’s it look?

I use both an Orphek lens filter and an Kraken glasses lens depending how much “pop” I want.

Wow. I still find that multi colored Goni incredible.

I use the a Polylab kit with an orange lens, sometimes the polarizer. But I do use the auto correct in the edit app. It just seems to "crispin" things up a bit. My tide pool stuff, I will use the Snapseed app to get better control of edits. You can see some of this on my insta. https://www.instagram.com/tracyceasario/

If you set the color to something more real - like 10-14K then the iPhone does a great job without doing anything - really great photos. If you want to take photos in windex, then you filter, but they still will not look as good as they would with a real camera with lenses.

Most folks take them as clear as possible and then edit them in Lightroom, or the like.
