Have corals with bubble algae on them. Mainly a blasto and some zoa. How can I ensure I dont transfer the bubble algae. I know I can remove the algae but what are the chances the spores are still on there and I introduce it to my new tank? Will dip work for that?

I did this after I discovered Bubble Algae, on a newly purchased coral. Coral is thriving. ACAN Coral Picked off Bubble Algae. Dipped in 75ml Hydrogen Peroxide to 2.5 Liters of Saltwater for Six Minutes. Returned Acan to 120 Gallon Aquarium. Let Hydrogen Peroxide Solution, set for Two Hours, the and returned water to Aquarium. BTW, if you have that bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide, that’s been around for years, toss it and get new, for the treatment

this is precisely why in the disease forum, Jay recommends using observation tanks, a quarantine effort vs none

we wouldnt put them into a display and hope

have a dual system, an observation tank, clean off the algae before putting in there and observe for six months before your dt is stocked

=the common answer is: I don't/can't get a second tank.

rebuttal: then prepare for a lifelong valonia battle. these are the new rules of reefing unless you're very, very unrepeatably lucky.

this thread is solely for the domain of non quarantiners

valonia can be beaten but you need to isolate the carriers a while to be sure.

Thanks for the help. I did get a quarantine and have followed the advice and waiting now to see if anything comes. The only thing I worry about is that not enough nitrates are produce for the bubble algae to appear so how do I know for sure that its gone?

I have a 30 Gallon Quarantine Aquarium, but it usually has Fish being treated, usually with Copper. I Dip my Corals in Brightwell Aquatics Koral MD Pro. However, it won’t kill the Macro-Algae‘s.
