How to TURN OFF Lounge Topics Pop Up?

This just started appearing and since I am on an older lap top a wireless G connection it bogs my system down dramaticaly.
It a stupid pop up boxs in the lower right hand corner that reappears every time I open a new thread even when I clock the X to close.
What a PITA!

Click the other button down there that says ## People Here. Click the gear at the top right and Turn Off
