I have a 20L tank as my quarantine tank and its setup and running. I was wondering how much copper power a day for the 7 day ramp was needed to use. Also which Hanna checker would be most accurate for copper testing?

equipment used are:

Aquaclear 20 HOB
Eheim 40gal heater
Seachem ammonia badge

If additonal things or rules to abide by are needed please let me know and i will get them/do them!

@HotRocks guidance helped me with quarantine using Copper Power. I use that thread every time I have questions.

Just to make sure you have a copper test kit correct?

Edit: just saw your question about which Hanna to use. There should be a red copper test, check BRS and Marine Depot for the exact number.

@HotRocks , you beat me to it, I was going to post the same link, LOL!!!

Lol! I still use it. I have 4 copper tanks going right now. So I have been referring to it constantly!

@PegasisR you want the Hanna high range copper checker.

Read your wonderful post already :) but im unfortunately not a mathematician XD and dont know exact dosing :/ Also which hanna checker is it? high range or low range?

21ml total for a 20g to reach 1.75ppm

Dose 3ml per day for 7 days. I split into am/pm doses. So 1.5ml twice a day for 7 days. You might have to add a bit at end because technically it's a little over 21ml. Also you have to add the volume of HOB.

High range model. The one that reads in PPM.

How do i measure the volume of HOB? and how much would be a bit?

Would a rhomboid wrasse be able to handle this type of quarantine procedure?

Yes, Fairies are very sensitive so the slow ramp is recommended. Soft top covering aquarium. They are notorious for spinal injuries.

And would it be better to get the fish eating and fattened up before starting copper?

After you hit the 7th day how long do you leave them in the copper water? When is it safe to start removing the copper from the system and making sure the parasites are all died? The bottle is kind of vague on the time line.
You can remove the fish from the copper after it has been at therapeutic level for 14 days. And then place into a clean, sterile, fresh tank for 14 days of observation to make sure the parasites are gone.

Or you leave the fish in the copper for 30 days. Then begin removing copper through water changes, running Cuprisorb, etc.
