Now that I believe I have found the source of trace metals in my tank and the package of MetaSorb will be here tomorrow I have a question. What I order is 1 package for up 250 gallons.
How are you using it?
Just drop in the sump?
In a reactor? If so how?
Put my filter socks back in and set the bag in a sock?
Or other options

Hi
I used this before in my tank. I put between my sump baffles. So the water goes true it. The other way can be with a reactor.

What kind of metals do you have in your tank?

Nickel, Vanadium, Tin, and Lithium per my ICP test. I found my magfloat was cracked and full of water. When I pulled it out of my tank thankfully only a few drops of the rust water dropped in the tank but it’s been leaching in the tank for at least a month or longer.

I had some heavy metals in my tank, I used detox and after that I used metasorb and cuprisorb and I did 3 water change of 20% and that reduced the heavy metals in my tank.

I just found my two little fish veggie clips have moisture in the magnets as well. Some of these products that are being sold to us to make our hobby easier and more enjoyable are killing our tanks:mad:

Just a FWIW, I never leave the glass cleaner or any feeders in the water. It is a pain when you use them every day, but I would recommend removing them after use and let them dry.

I’m totally agree with you! This is one place I became complacent ( the wife calls it lazy but I like my terminology better ) and I learned a lesson. From now on once I’m done using these things they will be rinsed off dried and put up.
Thank you everyone for all the great help and advice!!!

I put the bag in between the last set of baffles with my Skimmer output aimed at it as that seems to have the greatest flow. Now my question is this. The package says to compare the colors when I remove it from the water to see what metals it removed but do not cut the bag open. So what changes colors the bag or the media inside? If it’s the media inside how do you compare the colors to something you can’t see?

How long did you leave it in before pulling it and checking color? I put it in 12 hours ago and even know I feel like my kids as I want to pull it and look I haven’t messed with it. The package says no longer then 10 days.

Thank you for all your help!
