How to "water down" my saltwater?

So I'm currently buying my salt and freshwater from my LFS. I realize mixing my own would be best, but I'm just starting out with a small tank and it's pretty convenient and cost effective to buy from them.

To my question. The latest batch of saltwater i bought was mixed a little hot, and is coming in at 1.027 on my refractometer (just calibrated). If I would do a 1 gallon water change, any idea how much freshwater I should add to bring it down to 1.025? Also, how long would I have to mix before an accurate salinity reading could be obtained with my refractometer?

I'm happy to experiment, was just hoping for an educated starting point because I have zero clue where to start.

By freshwater, I hope you’re getting RODI water. You can add your RODI directly to the saltwater before you add to your tank. Test the water with your refractometer before adding to your tank to make sure it matches the salinity you’re keeping it at.

if you have a 5 gallons of water then about .25 gallons of fresh brings it to 1.0257

If you added approximately 10oz of RODI water to the gallon of 1.027 saltwater it should bring it to 1.025.

Yes, getting RODI from the LFS. Use it for my ATO.
