Just wonder how you DIYers wrap your DIY stand. Pictures would be great. This is my first DIY tank stand using a plan that looks like this. also correct me if i'm wrong. the tank sits on the green 2x4s correct? what's wrong with having the tank sitting on the green/dark blue/red wood?

My build thread is in my signature, that'll give you one way of how to "wrap" your stand. As far as this diagram, if it were me, i would run those inner green 2x4s so they're flush top and bottom (really not sure if they're even necessary). I would also cover the top with a piece of 1/4 plywood and the weight of the tank would indeed be sitting on the dark blue/red 2x4s and the main support being the purple legs, but again, just my opinion.

No. Tank does not sit on the green boards. Green boards are only there to hold the purple boards in line. The tank sits on the red boards and the purple boards hold all the weight

The reason the green boards arnt flush with the fround or top of the tank is so you can be 100% sure no weight is being supported by them. They are strictly only there to hold the purple boards in place. The purple boards support all the weight.

Oh I understand the point lol, I just don't know why you would do it that way, to each their own, just seems like a waste.

In my opinion, the green boards are there purely to help get the purple boards installed and aligned correctly. They serve no purpose in actually supporting any weight.

As to skinning, many ways to skin a cat as the saying goes. You can create doors and panels held on with magnets. In my case, I went with the latter. All panels on my stand are removable. Makes for easier access. Build thread below if you care to take a look.

They keep the stand square. If you have a kreg jig, i think you could leave them out. I built this plan and those green boards really make it solid.
