How would you setup 2 gyres on Apex?

Hi everyone,

I have a 180g standard tank (6x2x2) that is set up peninsula style with the overflow on the right side of the tank. I’m changing up the flow on my tank and replacing my current powerheads and putting in a Maxspect XF150 on the far end, and a Maxspect XF130 where the overflow is. I’ve been going back and forth on how to set them up on my apex for some “natural” flow.

Would you set them up in constant mode and have the apex turn them on and off every X amount of minutes? This is what I’m leaning towards, but how long for each one?

Have you seen the BRS thread on how they set up the gyres to use long, alternating gyre patterns with shifting turbulent zones? I thought it was brilliant.

That would be awesome, but it would require me to buy 2 of the Icecap modules which are quite expensive!

Lol if I had a dollar for how many times I say to myself, "that would be awesome... but it's so expensive..." in this hobby I'd be able to afford all that expensive stuff!
