So after 3 years and moving 1603 miles, I’m finally ready to start setting up my 90gal. I’ve got everything less the rock. So I’m starting to think about how to stock the tank and would love to hear suggestions on how you would do it if you could start over. Thanks!

Hit up KP Aquatics of Bluezoo …. unpaid plug as they did me right …. maybe do a large school of something or a group of basslets like 6 Royal gramma (I’ve seen it done)

Have you got a price range you’d want to try stay in?

Here is my 90 gallon
12 Blue Green Chromis
2 Royal Gramma
1 Firefish
1 Yellow white Belly Wrasse
1 Bangai Cardinal

In qt process
1 Tomini Tang

As long you have alot of hiding places then your set

I got all of my fish from my lfs and definitely qt.
My 1st batch of blue green chromis only took 1 month qt
While my 2nd batch (2 years later) took 7 months to qt lol.

My 90g (4’x2’x2’) is wrasse heavy but is my style of a large tank.
It has;
- Magnificent Foxface
- Copperband Butterfly
- Twin Spot Bristletooth Tang
- Black Photon Clown
- Melanospilos Angel
- Black Margin Fairy Wrasse
- Cebu Lubbock’s Fairy Wrasse
- Indo Lubbock’s Fairy Wrasse
- Radiant Wrasse
- Jade Wrasse
- Blue Flasher Wrasse

I've got a 90g with...
Powder Blue tang
Hippo tang
Naso tang
2 clowns
Fang blenny
Starry blenny
Yellow coris wrasse
Melanurus wrasse

Probably add a flame angel at some point too

Probably the same way I stocked my 105 which is a handfull of fish that eat algae (one spot Foxface, Coral Beauty), a small school of Azure Damsels, a bunch of reef safe wrasses, and a couple of "interesting" fish thrown in like a clown and Flame Hawk :).

This is not a great idea. The 3 tangs have minimum tank size recommendations of 125g, 180g, and 180g respectively, per Liveaquaria. I realize they are not the end all, be all of minimum tank size requirements, but all three of those in a 90g will not end well.

If you want to check out my build thread for some ideas (and videos that show how the fish interact in my tank), I've got an 80 gallon lagoon style display. It's got a bigger footprint than a standard 90, but isn't as tall.

Not a great idea, just for reference for him.

I've been reefing since the late 90's, so I just do what I want

A long history of reefing experience can help mitigate problems caused by keeping fish in a tank that is a little too small for them. But it doesn’t make the minimum tank requirements for different species of fish irrelevant. Especially if you’re choosing to keep fish in tanks that are *half* the recommended size.
