Hi everyone.
I've been lurking here for some time, catching up on what's new and how to do it.
Not new to reefing, my tank has been in operation since 1994. Before you ask, no, I'm not posting any pics. It is overgrown with hair algae ATM which I am slowly working on.
Back in the day, tap water here in Wichita was so,so and I only did water changes every other year. Things did well in the tank aside from algae blooms every spring when the weather changed. Not so today.
So, recently I've started doing monthly changes at around 30% or so. Added an R/O DI system, a GFO reactor and a HOB skimmer. Water quality has never been better, no thanks to the skimmer which pumps so many micro bubbles into the water my tank looks like milk when I try to run it over an hour or two.
Anyway, enough rambling from me...

good luck with your hair algae issue, been fighting mine for quite some time but I think I may have finally won the battle.
I grew up in McPherson, just north of you. I’m a ways away now, but still have family in the area.
