hi guys,
anyone know why this is happening? (ill provide pics tonite) my spiderman wellso seems to be dying. it's turning white on the edge one one side of it. no water change(will post water params later too). all other LPS, Zoa,SPS,FISh are normal. nothing has died or look to be having problems. just wondering if this is a random die off>? :doubt::doubt::doubt::doubt::waaaht:

He don't look happy, that's for sure. How long has he been in the same spot? Any possibility of someone stinging him? Any change in water current? I wouldn't assume current or lighting as much considering he's not incredibly receded in just one spot. For starters I'd give him a good dip in a strong lugols solution, also check your water params and make sure everything is dialed. Even if everything else is looking good, one domino always has to fall first after all.

He doesn't look too horrible or anything unrecoverable, but definitley something not right.

This may not be the best question to answer, but in my experience my brain noticed phosphates raising before my SPS did for some odd reason.

Possible the Phosphates are raising any?

yeah i actually moved him back to where he was when i first took those healthy pics.

params are

calcium 460
salinity 35ppt
temp 79
ph 8.3
phosphate .02
ammonia 0
nitrates 0

Have u added any new LPS to the tank ????

I recently lost two blasto colonys for no apparent reason everything else is great an never looked better.

yeah it's on the higher salinity since i get my sw straight from a station/well near the ocean that an aquaculture farm uses. all the lfs's here use the same well. and actually i recently did add a purple hammer and a aussie golden torch. ...............hmmm.....but i put new carbon in right before i got them.... and moved him back to where he was originally on the sand in the corner of the tank out of direct light....we'll see what happens...

hey guys anyone had this happen to them???? need more info from anyone who had this happen to them! is it going to die? etcc.etc..??

Has anything more happened? As of now it just looks like a partial bleach/possible withdrawal. Had a wellso do some receding, did the lugols dip like I posted above and moved it from the tank it was in that wasn't getting cared for to a healthy tank on the sandbed in an area of moderate light, not too aggressive flow, and 4 months later it's come back from a 1/4 of it's skeleton to over 5/8's, with huge fluffy flesh and amazing color.
So no clear answer if it's going to die, especially as those pictures don't show a rapid decay of flesh, just something causeing it to be unhappy.

THANKS. didn't dip lugols yet. will get to that probably tonite. will change out carbon and do water change tomorrow.
