Being new to aquariums in general, let alone saltwater I'm wondering things like flow around it, will fish like it, will coral grow up verticle surfaces or do they need shelves? I have a number of each just curiois of opinions on the look, but more importantly the function. Just moved from a 75 gallon with an fx6 to a 125 gallon with a sump. I'm using marine pure sphere's in the refugium area, will be adding macro algae and pods this weekend

Welcome to R2R!

Love the scape!
Just watch out for spikes in aluminum concentration from the Marine Pure. There’s a lot of threads on this board about it and BRS did a test on it and proved it raises aluminum levels in the water.
you’ve got a great set up for SPS frag’s and great flow though!

Good to hear, thanks. As far as the marine pure, does that ever stop raising the levels the stuff I'm using has been in my old canister filter for about 6 months before moving it.

As far as I know, no, it doesn’t. I forget the time lapse BRS did until they tested but it was awhile.

I'll keep an eye on it, worst case I have about 30 pounds of rock I can smash up into rubble.

Welcome to R2R! Your scape is awesome. I have Marine pure spheres in my fuge too. They've been there for about 2 years, and I have noticed no ill effects. Of course, I didn't know about the aluminum issue when I put them in. As your tank matures and you start adding coral, you will be adjusting your flow to accommodate your tanks needs, but I think your rock placement will allow for whatever flow you want. Good Job!

Scape looks good and welcome!

Consider what livestock of corals you want. Sps will need flow and light. Some encrusted a whole top of the rock. Some corals will encrust almost vertical on rock provided the light, glow water parameters is right.

As you have it is great for flow and fish swim through. But you limit your sps real estate at the top if the top rocks are thinner though.

Love the scape. Very clean and crisp sump setup.
If you're gonna run it "natural," I think you've hit a homer.

If you really want to keep that ultra-clean sump look, you could consider making egg crate style baskets for your spheres. They can get kinda nasty and I don't enjoy groping for my bio balls bare-handed in the sump when it's time to clean. If they're in a basket, you can just lift it out and give em all a good swish in some water change water.

Thanks, that's a great idea for the basket, I was thinking of something to get them out to clean the bottom
