I am embarrassed to say I didn't even notice this, but my son called to me as he was headed up to bed (nice to know he checks it too). All of a sudden, he's yelling about this huge thing growing on my torch coral. It looks cotton-ish almost like a sack of spider eggs. It has what looks like a fan poking out the end as well. There seems to be another growing on the other branch of the torch as well.

Typically, I don't get to see the branches because it is usually open and flowing like this. It does close up at night, but I guess I never looked closely at night.

Looks like a sponge to me or a pineapple sponge it is the white sack I'm looking at.
Yes, the white sack. My searches came up sponge as well, but being new I wanted to get some pro-advice. It looks exactly like the pineapple sponge. You didn't see any other problems, right?

I would say pineapple sponge also. In the future you might see neon green, yellow or even pink sponges pop up.

Sponge. It is good thing. now on a coral. I don't have the experience to say if it is good or bad. Nice torch BTW

You can remove iT if you want ... i had one growing on my hammer . Removed with pincet and a toothbrush ..

Harmless little sponge as far as I know they are good filter feeders
And if anything if that torch is able to hit it enough with its tentacles it will most like die anyways
