I have a 125 gal mixed reef tank which has been running for a couple years now without any major issues. I have a DIY dual Refugium I built from an acrylic wet/dry. Now besides my chaeto not growing like it used to and actually shrinking which I mentioned in another thread I have one major issue. My phosphates are thru the roof. According to my Hanna tester they are at 1.14 ppm so I double checked with my Red Sea po4 test kit .now I have some really expensive corals from sps to lps and zoa's which aren't dying but def are not growing anymore and a few look like they are getting less colorful. I checked all my other parameters which seemed ok my nitrates were slightly raised but nothin to bad. A little over a month ago my protein skimmer pump broke so I was without one for over a month and in that time I had huge algae blooms green and red slime .but I have my skimmer fixed now so hopefully it will get back to normal but in the meantime what would ppl recommend for a quick way to lower my po4 safely? I do have a dual reactor but idk if I still have GFO in the one chamber or not as my father usually fills it. If not should I get more GFO or maybe some phos guard ? I just want to do things right and safely as I've learned the hard way years ago long story short I wiped out a hole tanks worth of coral ugh lol. So any feedback is greatly appreciated.

IMO I would definitely get some GFO or phos guard going and do a strong regiment of 30% weekly water changes to get you back where you need to be. Sounds like your nutrients are up from not having a skimmer going.
