Hi all have a question, my son recently bought a pair of white stripe maroon clownfish. Unfortunately the female died shortly after we received her. We received a replacement female who is huge. I placed a divider in the tank to keep the two clownfish apart for a while. Much to our surprise after we were away for the day, we came home to find the male had somehow work his way onto the female side of the tank. We were very lucky, she didn't kill, or defin him. But last two days, in the late afternoon early evening the huge female has started to tail dig. She turns the tank into milk. She has a very healthy appetite, even seems to have the taste for small hermit crabs. Not sure what the tail digging is about. Thanks for any information. Note spots on the clownfish are sand and air bubbles from skimmer. She is very clean and healthy

I have a nice pair too. If not supplied an anemone, they will dig to make a "house"

Think a clay pot would help?
It could but my female maroon still constantly stirs up the sand even though she has a nice big anemone. She'll also knock over any coral or rock she doesn't like, they are very territorial

Thanks for the info. I have three huge RBTA, maybe I will move one into her tank, see if it helps.

You're welcome, just one other thing to keep in mind; they love anemones but sometimes become even more territorial when they have them so don't be surprised if you get bit one day. That being said, I love my maroons and wouldn't even think of not seeing them rubbing all over their anemone. Plus it's always funny watching them attack the glass scraper

Yea my maroons were very docile until I put an anemone in there and now she always goes after my hand

Depending on where the anemone is located, it will or will not dig up the sandbed. If the anemone is near/at the send bed, the fish will build a "house" around it
