Has any one done a discussion on good testing habits and how you can reduce the variances in reading that we create with methods that are prone to causing them? My job in a chemical plant is batching (making the product) and QA of the raw materials and products produced and shipped. I noticed that when I applied to my tank testing the same methods required by my company for material testing I started seeing a more consistent readings in my results. If any one might be interested in how I sample (getting a good "clean" sample is the biggest first in the whole process) and test and the reasons of why, I am all up to a challenge of putting together a "How and Why" again if there is interest and its not beating a dead sea horse repetition.

This is a great topic. I think a large percentage of questions about what to do about my high or low xxxx relate to not doing the test correctly/consistently. Time of day, expiration date, etc etc.

You hit one thing dead on...time of day can play an important part with certain tests like PH as it will change (some times drastically) depending on night or day.

Think I should take a bunch of pictures tomorrow of how I set up, prep and do testing then sit down and try and wright an article how and why for submission.
